Dr. Lihong Su is an Associate Research Scientist at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies (HRI), Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. He is working with HRI's endowed chair Dr. James Gibeaut in the Coastal and Marine Geospatial Lab. He received his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Xinjiang University, a Master's degree in Geography Information Systems, and a PhD in remote sensing from Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Su also is an American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Certified Mapping Scientist – Remote Sensing (RS195). Dr. Su has published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal papers. His experience includes geometric optical modeling and inversion of visible and thermal infrared remote sensing, spatial data handling, point clouds and image processing and pattern recognition in lidar and remote sensing, and computer simulation in GIS and remote sensing. Currently, his main research focus is technologies and applications of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) remote sensing for coastal systems.
