Isabel Tiller

Isabel Tiller is a master’s student in the Marine Biology program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a graduate research assistant at the Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation in the Fisheries and Ocean Health lab. Her work focuses on juvenile tarpon and snook ecology in Texas Coastal Bend nursery habitats.

Isabel received a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Clemson University where she worked on multiple research projects focusing on black bass ecology, leopard shark genomics, and marine science youth outreach programs. During her undergraduate experience, she worked as a naturalist and sea kayak guide in Charleston, South Carolina, interned with the South Carolina Aquarium, and interned with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Stream Fish Research Program. Most recently, she worked as a fisheries technician for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Diadromous Fish Research Program studying Atlantic and shortnose sturgeon.

Her extensive and diverse fisheries research and outreach experience is driven by her simple desire to learn more and to tell the world about it. She intends to become a professor in marine science and continue researching marine fisheries while fostering the next generation of bright scientists.

When Isabel isn’t in the field or lab, you can find her fly fishing, surfing, reading fantasy novels, backpacking, or camping under the stars.
