Dijani Laplace is task worker with the HRI Community Resilience Group. Dijani’s roles majorly involve incorporating human perceptions into decision-making processes using qualitative analysis, and GIS mapping and visualization. Prior to joining the institute, Dijani worked in the U.S. Virgin Islands majorly in relation to the Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Plan, where his roles involved natural ecosystem and resource sector assessments and the creation of mapping products.

Dijani received his  B.S. in Biology at the University of the Virgin Islands in 2020, and also received his M.S. in Environmental Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2024. As a master’s student, Dijani was a member of the Community Resilience Group and was also a NOAA Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems II (CCME II) Scholar. His thesis project was titled “Community Perceptions of Ecosystems in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands”.

Dijani’s research expertise involves qualitative analysis, survey creation and distribution, ecosystem service assessments, and GIS map visualization.
