Angelica Ovalle
Angelica Marie Ovalle is a research specialist, part of the Hydro-Ecology lab at the Harte Research Institute. Her research focuses on how land use changes over time correlate to the ecological health of Gulf's estuaries by measuring micro-benthic and nekton diversity. She graduated in 2025 with a master's in environmental science from TAMUCC as a NOAA CCME-II Scholar. She got her undergraduate degree from Texas State studying Business in Agriculture, and it was there that she found a passion for sustainability and restoration among terrestrial ecosystems. Angelica's current research allows her to bridge a gap between land and sea interactions, combining her terrestrial and aquatic interests.
In her free time, she enjoys making art inspired by nature. She is an outdoor enthusiast who tries to spend as much time out in nature as possible. After her degree, she plans to put her education into her own sustainability-focused business that promotes native plant growth to restore Texas soils and biodiversity.
