Maya Manahan
Manahan serves as a student social media specialist at the Harte Research Institute (HRI).
Manahan is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, graduating cum laude and as a member of the university's Honors program. She will soon begin pursuing a Master's degree in kinesiology at the university with the goal of becoming a certified athletic trainer.
She was drawn to HRI because of its impactful research and its contribution to the university and greater coastal community. In her role, Manahan helps share updates about research projects, events, and activities taking place within HRI while also highlighting campus life at TAMU-CC and showcasing the culture and community of Corpus Christi through the university's social media platforms.
During her undergraduate career, Manahan conducted and presented research through the Honors Program, including a project examining Type 2 diabetes in adolescents, which she presented at the university's Honors symposium and research symposium.
She enjoys the collaborative nature of academic research and values mentorship and connections she has built
with professors, staff, and fellow students. Outside of work and academics, Manahan enjoys photography, reading, and traveling. She has visited half of the United States and has traveled to Tokyo and the Philippines. Manahan hopes to build a career as an athletic trainer and eventually pursue a Ph.D. in research.
