Dr. Emily Fuqua is an Assistant Research Scientist with the Coastal Conservation and Restoration lab.

Emily is involved with the ongoing oyster restoration research in Dr. Jennifer Pollack’s lab, including incorporating restorative aquaculture approaches into restoration and living shorelines and investigating additional approaches for oyster restoration.

Emily’s research experience spans from physiological work to ecosystem and habitat restoration, and she has worked with finfish, such as redfish and cobia, and shellfish, such as oysters and scallops, around the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts for aquaculture, restoration, and conservation.

One of Emily’s main research goals is to apply her work to help solve problems coastal communities are facing in environmentally sustainable ways, a goal she shares with the Harte Research Institute.

In her position, Emily will assist the lab’s research from fieldwork to analysis and publication. With the Coastal Conservation and Restoration lab, she also hopes to promote science-driven programs and decisions that will benefit local coastal communities and local environments.
