CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies is pleased to announce the release of our 2017 Annual Report!
Catch up on the latest news from HRI during a busy year that included our State of the Gulf of Mexico Summit, new emerging partnerships with Cuba and, unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey, a major disaster for our Coastal Bend community and a stark reminder of the importance of advancing research into resiliency solutions for the Texas Coast.
The report includes the latest news about the work of our students, research staff and faculty, along with updates on major projects like:
- Living With Sea Level Rise in Texas, our comprehensive sea level rise study for the Houston/Galveston area;
- New milestones for our popular Sink Your ShucksTM Oyster Recycling Program;
- And brand new grants like our red snapper abundance project, an ambitious independent assessment order by Congress that seeks to estimate the number of highly-sought after red snapper in the U.S. waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
