HRI 2016 Annual Report Now Available
Interested in what we've been up to at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies (HRI) for the past year? Check out our annual report, a full-color, 32-page wrap up of one year in the life our people, programs and projects!
This issue includes stories about two new undersea features named for HRI and HRI Chair Dr. Wes Tunnell: the Harte Bank and Tunnell Mound. You can also read about EarthCube, a project that is helping us better understand the data we collect about the Gulf of Mexico. Felimon Gayanilo, one of our senior researchers, is a co-lead. HRI also continues to lead oyster recycling efforts both here and around the U.S., and celebrated its one-millionth pound of oyster shell collected for restoration. You can also learn about how our RESTORE Center of Excellence, Texas OneGulf, moved from planning to implementation, and how our consortium is already making a difference in understanding the Gulf by aiding the investigation of the mortality event at the Flower Gardens National Marine Sanctuary’s East Bank.
